‘People Want to Pit Us Against Each Other’

The rift between the WWE and Vince McMahon has been an ongoing story for decades, but it took on a new dimension this week. The fallout came just days before WrestleMania 35 when Stephanie McMahon broke her silence to describe how she felt during one of their meetings with Triple H.

Technology enables us to connect with people around the world, but it’s also fostering division between them. Sports are no different. Technology has allowed fans to stay connected and make their voices heard through social media giving athletes more power than ever before in an effort to pit sports against each other for financial gain.

The “pit against each other synonym” is a term that has been used to describe the idea of people wanting to pit two or more athletes against one another for entertainment purposes.

Highlights of the article:

  • Levy, Steve, the host of Monday Night Football, stated there is no animosity between him and Peyton and Eli Manning.
  • In Week 7, the Manning brothers will resume their alternating Monday Night Football broadcast.
  • MNF’s TV ratings are on the rise in 2021.

Steve Levy and pals are the choice of ESPN fans who prefer a classic Monday Night Football show. Peyton and Eli Manning are the go-to quarterbacks for anyone looking for something a little different (and that’s an understatement).

Peyton and Eli Manning are in their debut season as hosts of Monday Night Football. The well-received program is simply referred to as the ManningCast on social media. Despite the fact that the former NFL quarterbacks’ comments has been the topic of Monday evenings this season, Levy is unconcerned.

Steve Levy claims there is no animosity between Peyton and Eli Manning about their alternative broadcast.

Two overtime games and an exciting last-minute conclusion between Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills and Derrick Henry’s Tennessee Titans highlighted the first six weeks of the 2021 MNF schedule. In Week 4, football fans witnessed a strange weather delay at SoFi Stadium, an indoor-outdoor stadium.

It’s safe to say that the Manning siblings’ presence has made for an interesting set of Monday evenings. Only two longstanding starting quarterbacks could greet guests, exchange insults, and assess players like Eli and Peyton did during the season’s first three games on ESPN2.

Levy, who is in his second year as the conventional MNF broadcast’s play-by-play voice, believes there is no bad blood between the two sides on the SI Media Podcast, which aired on Oct. 21.

“I don’t understand why people want to put us against one other. I’m looking at the health of the Monday Night Football franchise. The ratings have improved. I’m not interested in statistics, but more people are watching, and if it’s because of Peyton and Eli, I’m fine for it. Let’s restore Monday Night Football to its former glory, regardless of how many networks it is shown on.”

Steve Levy

Levy said that he recorded one of the Manning brothers’ early broadcasts to see “what all the hoopla was about” and how the two performed. It didn’t take long for him to be completely blown away.

“I believe that’s a victory,” Levy said, “and I’d be astonished if it changed.”

Levy took the high road and said that he understood why the Mannings are being scrutinized.

It’s difficult to blame Levy for being annoyed with ESPN or the amount of exposure the ManningCast has received in recent weeks. The traditional MNF broadcast is expected to get the most attention and viewers, particularly in a year with so many exciting games already.

The 56-year-old deserves praise for choosing the high path while staying truthful. Because the ManningCast does not have a typical host or play-by-play voice, Levy told SI’s Jimmy Traina that he was unaffected.

Levy admits that he, Brian Griese, and Louis Riddick are still fine-tuning their chemistry in the MNF booth. Observing the Manning brothers, on the other hand, provided him a glimpse into the future.

“Peyton and Eli have spent their whole lives together. “I enjoyed every minute of it,” Levy said. “It’s impossible to fabricate [chemistry].” You won’t be able to replace it.”

Eli has said that he does not want the ManningCast to appear every week and is OK with the current schedule. Levy wants the network to keep investing in the alternative broadcast in exchange for his money.

“I realize it’s just a three-year contract for those men, but if they’re having a nice time, the audience is obviously having a good time watching them, so why not keep it going?” Levy made a comment.

As the season progresses, keep an eye on the head-to-head ratings.

Last night’s Peyton / Eli Manning webcast had 1.89 million views. The previous week’s figure was 1.85 million.

Despite being the more enjoyable program, the Manning Bros have a long way to go in terms of regular transmission.

They’ll also be off the air for the next three weeks.

Despite the ManningCast’s popularity, it’s important to remember that the standard broadcast won every single ratings war. The Manning brothers’ statistics rose in each of the first three weeks of the season, peaking at 1.89 million for the Dallas Cowboys’ 41-21 thrashing of the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 27.

The normal broadcast drew over 12 million people that night, and until Week 6, it averaged 13.8 million viewers each game.

As the season goes, it will be intriguing to observe how the head-to-head stats change. After almost a month off, the Manning brothers will return in Week 7, which might help them break the 2 million mark for the first time. In addition, Eli and Peyton will host an alternative broadcast for a yet-to-be-determined Wild Card Game.

Eli and Peyton have a long shot of dethroning Levy, Griese, and Riddick in the ratings. However, don’t expect the seasoned announcer to throw a fuss if this occurs. Maybe he’ll just join Eli in ridiculing Peyton’s head size.
