The New York Giants are considering drafting QB Daniel Jones in the 2021 NFL Draft, but Eli Manning has a different opinion.
Eli Manning is the oldest starting quarterback in the NFL. He has been with the Giants since 2004. In 2021, he will be 45 years old and it is unclear if he will still be playing football.
Daniel Jones is in his third season with the New York Giants, and it’s probably the most crucial of his short career. Despite the fact that the former first-round pick has had a less-than-stellar two seasons in the NFL, the Giants trust in him. Eli Manning, one of the franchise’s best players, has high expectations for Jones in the 2021 season.

The Giants selected Duke University’s Daniel Jones with the No. 6 overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. The link between Jones and Eli Manning has gotten a lot of attention.
David Cutcliffe, Jones’s college coach, has close connections to the Manning family. He was the quarterbacks coach at the University of Tennessee and was involved in Peyton Manning’s development. Cutcliffe recruited Eli Manning as the head coach of Ole Miss.
Jones served as the Blue Devils’ head coach for three seasons. In his career, he passed for 8,201 yards and 52 touchdowns. On the ground, the Giants quarterback rushed for 1,323 yards and 17 touchdowns.
At the next level, he didn’t seem to be a generational talent. According to The Draft Network, his difficulties under pressure were also worrisome. General manager Dave Gettleman, on the other hand, must have felt like a lottery winner when he selected Jones.
Jones has made several impressive plays while wearing a Giants jersey. He hasn’t done much to set himself apart from the other young quarterbacks, however.
For New York Giants quarterbacks, Eli Manning set a high standard, but Jones hasn’t even come close.

With the New York Giants, Eli Manning had a successful 16-year NFL career. He was a four-time Pro Bowler who led the team to two Super Bowl victories. Both times, he was named Super Bowl MVP. In NFL history, he ranks seventh in career throwing yards and ninth in passing touchdowns.
The statistics point to a possible future Pro Football Hall of Fame candidacy, but Manning’s effect on the organization is incalculable.
The New Orleans native spoke with ESPN’s Keyshawn, JWill, and Max on the Giants’ prospects in 2021. Manning was asked what he expects from Daniel Jones in the 2021 season by Max Kellerman. He added, “I believe he’ll be able to take that step ahead.”
Jones had to learn a new system in 2020, according to Manning, and the offensive line’s rotating components also played a factor. Manning stated, “I’ve seen personally how hard Daniel works and how essential it is for him to be a successful player.”
Jones is aware of how critical year three is for his career, but he does not feel stressed, according to him. Manning said, “I believe he can go out there and have a great year.”
Jones has the greatest offensive weapons of his career with the Giants.

Four games into the 2019 season, Daniel Jones took over as the starting quarterback from Eli Manning. With him at the helm, the Giants went 3-9. They weren’t a decent squad to begin with, however.
The offense of New York was led by Saquon Barkley, who was the only bright light. Darius Slayton showed glimpses, but the receiving corps as a whole had a lot to be desired.
In 2020, the Giants improved to a 6-10 record, although the skill positions as a whole underperformed. Barkley was injured in the second game of the season and did not return for the remainder of the season. No Giants receiver had more than 800 yards receiving this season.
Jones didn’t do much better. While completing 62.5 percent of his throws, the Duke graduate passed for 2,943 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also threw 10 interceptions, resulting in a terrible TD-INT ratio.
Jones’ pocket awareness was also below par. He was sacked too many times and mishandled the ball 11 times. If it’s any consolation, that’s a step up from his 18 fumbles last season.
The Giants have surrounded their young quarterback with the greatest arsenal of weapons of his career heading into 2021. According to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, Saquon Barkley is likely to participate in Week 1. When healthy, he’s one of the league’s most complete running backs.
Kenny Golladay, a former Lions wide receiver, was brought to the front office in the offseason. He had a rough summer, but he has the talent to be a game-changer in this offense. In the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Giants selected Kadarius Toney. His value has also suffered as a result of a difficult training game.
The offensive weapons may be very beneficial, but Jones must improve his performance. This time, there will be no excuses.
